I started working on newspapers and magazines while I was at college, first writing for then editing the student magazine, before becoming a reporter, then sub-editor on various NZ newspapers. In the UK, I spent my first few months in the country working back-to-back shifts, freelancing on news and feature desks for the Daily Mail, the FT, NME, Daily Mirror, Melody Maker magazine, The Sun and the Sunday Times. The Mail gave me my first UK staff job and I have returned to them repeatedly through the years, working mainly on the features desk and Weekend magazine, and the occasional shift on the news desk. In Hong Kong, I worked on the news desk at the Evening Standard surrounded by journos from across the world. Back in the UK, I moved into magazines, creating and editing a b2b for industry, then taking up the managing editor role for a charity, before moving into teaching NCTJ-accredited courses and managing PTC-accredited courses for four years. I then spent 15 years as a senior press and public relations officer, building an extensive track record in the higher education sector. I'm highly skilled in news sourcing and writing and as enamoured of storytelling as I ever was. I’m also a Pilates instructor, lucky to be teaching a discipline I love (#superfan)
