Ana Lacaze joined Pixar Animation Studios in 1997 as a lighting technical director on “A Bug’s Life” and the short film “Geri’s Game.” She continued on to hold many different positions on several short and feature films such as the key lighting and sets shading technical director for “Toy Story 2,” “Monsters, Inc.” and “The Incredibles,” set shading technical director for Golden Globe©-winning “Cars” and Academy Award©-winning “Ratatouille,” and the characters shading technical director for “Cars 2,” and Academy Award©-winning films “Up” and “Inside Out.” Lacaze went on to be the character shading lead artist on “The Good Dinosaur” before becoming the tools shading liaison for the department. She also worked in character shading for the Academy Award©-winning short film “Bao” that played in front of “Incredibles 2.” In addition, Lacaze served as the shading technical director on the CarsToons “Monster Truck Mater” and “Unidentified Flying Mater,” as well as key lighting technical director for the Academy Award©-winning short film “For the Birds.” Lacaze was the character shading and groom lead on the feature film “Onward,” released in theaters on March 6, 2020. She was the VFX Supervisor for the Pixar Spark Short Nona and currently the shading and groom Character Supervisor on a undisclosed Feature Film. Prior to joining Pixar, Lacaze worked as a Nuclear Physics particle accelerator operator for the Los Alamos National Laboratory. Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, Lacaze moved to the United States in 1992 and attended University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts focused in Sculpting. She currently resides in Marin County, CA and enjoys practicing martial arts, baking cakes, and traveling.
