The David and Lucile Packard Foundation is a private family foundation created in 1964 by David Packard (1912-1996), cofounder of the Hewlett-Packard Company, and Lucile Salter Packard (1914-1987). The Foundation provides grants to nonprofit organizations in the following program areas: Conservation and Science| Population| and Children, Families, and Communities. The Foundation makes national and international grants and also has a special focus on the Northern California Counties of San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, and Monterey. Foundation grant-making includes support for a wide variety of activities including direct services, research and policy development, and public information and education. The Foundation does not make grants intended to influence legislation or support candidates for political office. The Foundation's endowment was approximately $6.6 billion as of December 31, 2007. General program grant awards totaled approximately $274 million in 2007. The Foundation has a grant-making budget of approximately $300 million in 2008.

Melinda is part owner and Product Development Lead for Globiana.com. Globiana is reinventing expat family support, extending the cross-cultural and location services beyond the traditional scope and delivers the next generation of expat training and support in a cost-effective and scalable solution. Melinda’s wide and varied background includes nonprofit management, database management, product development, web development and design, graphic design, writing, blogging, community management, and media commentary. Her unique take on family life led her to found one of the first Mommy Blogs and become a highly a sought-after consultant for fortune 500 companies and the online parenting community. She is a founding panelist on Momversation.com, a technophile, and a published parenting author and expert, appearing on Oprah, CNN Prime Time, and other media outlets. Melinda has a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Davis. ------ Melinda (Mindy) Roberts is also the personality behind TheMommyBlog.com, founded in 2002 as one of the original mom blogs. She is a recently remarried mom to three children and three stepchildren, and worked in the nonprofit sector for twelve years before focusing mostly on her writing. Her most recent book, "42 Rules for Divorcing with Children" was released in October 2012. She has been featured on CNN Live Prime Time, Oprah, and most of the major networks, and also consults with companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Pampers, Proctor & Gamble, Clorox, Kellogg, and Google for her parenting and blogging expertise. She is also the author of Mommy Confidential: Adventures from the Wonderbelly of Motherhood.
