As the charitable arm of Northwest Federal Credit Union, the NWFCU Foundation is a community leader dedicated to making a real difference in the lives of children through its programs. The NWFCU Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charity, promotes and manages Northwest Federal Credit Union's charitable activities and programs which reflect the interest of our membership and the local community-extending beyond the service and savings of the credit union to focus on financial education, scholarships and charitable community outreach. Since 2005, our Foundation has awarded over $530,000 through the Ben DeFelice and other scholarship programs. We partner with local schools on a range of educational initiatives, reaching thousands of students annually through in-school financial education assemblies and workshops. Our school based community outreach projects are targeted to help the neediest of students. We also participate in and contribute to numerous charitable programs, including the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run in Washington, DC to benefit Children's Miracle Network and local Children's hospitals. We help members and residents in our local community improve their lives in a positive way through annual backpack, toy, food and coat drives.
