In 2014 I founded Syndesus. We remotely and legally employ Canadian workers in Canada who work for US companies without a Canadian subsidiary via our EOR (Employer of Record) / PEO (Professional Employer Organization) service. We also have a recruiting that can help you find tech talent in Canada. Why would a US or global company need a EOR/PEO in Canada? Opening a branch in a new country is expensive and time consuming to maintain. Using a EOR/PEO allows companies to legally employ a worker in Canada and give them Canadian health benefits, 401K, US stock options, etc., while the Canada specific payroll and HR is handled by the EOR/PEO, in this case Syndesus. In 2018, we added a service to help STEM OPT workers in the US who did not win the H-1B lottery who wanted to stay in North America. Syndesus can sponsor a Canadian work visa and move them to Canada via Global Talent Stream. Then we employ them long term via Syndesus EOR/PEO. In 2020 I launched Path to Canada. We connect immigrant tech workers (both H-1Bs in the US and tech workers around the world) with Canadian companies who hire and sponsor Canadian work visas via Global Talent Stream, Canada's innovative work visa program In 2021, I combined Syndesus and Path to Canada. We decided to keep Syndesus as the name of the new company. Path to Canada is now a service we offer, in addition to our Canadian PEO services and our service to move immigrant tech workers from the US to Canada if they cannot stay in the US due to not winning the H-1B lottery. I am the son of an immigrant. I have great respect for people who leave their home country and seek a better life in the US or Canada. I want to do everything I can to help them achieve their dreams. As an American who has moved to Canada twice (for grad school and for work), I understand the challenges involved in starting a new life in a new country.
