I have thirty plus years broad technical infrastructure experience within John Lewis, starting on the Mainframe (literally last century), developing on some of the first IBM PCs in the UK, through early PC networking, putting in the first IP branch networks, converging telephony into today’s software systems, introducing server virtualisation and ultrahigh capacity optical networking into John Lewis.I am particularly interested in TCO and commercial outcomes and consequently workload portability (Mainframe through IBM p-series to Intel, particularly under VMWare and the two way cloud boundary). Most recently I have developed our Data Centre strategy covering internal structures, access to collocation and the connectivity to support cloud adjacency.
