Thinking strategically but disconnected from the realties of implementation can be an exercise in futility. With proven experience in Strategy & Innovation, Architecture, and agile DevOps I drive the strategic vision, but ensure continuous delivery & flexibility to inevitable change. This approach ensures that the vision is delivered in an agile manner, course correcting if required utilising data & deliverables over opinions, but fully maximising the benefits of edge & cloud, globally, providing customers with experiences they love. Examples where I’ve led significant change are : - Creation of a leading digital development facility, proposed by me to the board, and subsequently built up from 1 to now c400 software professionals, and expanded globally from Manchester Uk, to Portland US, Pune India and Shanghai China. The digital centres as part of engineering at JLR deliver the vehicle connected digital platform, utilising AWS and GCP, leading in-car and mobile Apps. 5G Edge capability and connectivity, and data science, utilising the latest DevOps best practice. Details reported : https://www.visavvi.com/case-studies/jaguar-land-rover - Driven a consistent data approach and subsequent capability, ensuring that over 2 years we move from extracting and analysing c400 data signals and TB's of data to now extracting c18k data signals and Pb of data, using a leading in-house data science and ML capability - Led two major legacy modernisation architectural programmes (at AZ and JLR) - modernising and migrating from on-prem to a set of hybrid cloud environments utilising Salesforce, AWS and GCP, and pushing a cloud native direction to maximise benefits and investment. - Driven many API first initiatives including API enabling Pharma lifecycle and Vehicle as a Service as two major API implementations. - Innovation judge and advisor for JLR, Tata and VC (InMotion). As well as the emotional intelligence and skills required to work at C-Level and developer level, building the culture and environment where diverse teams can truly succeed, I continually update my deep technical knowledge around agile software development (Java still being my preferred language of choice), Cloud (AWS and GCP), data science, and leading edge areas such as 5G MEC for connected IOT/Vehicle edge solutions. I aim to remain technically curious and to never be an Ivory tower CTO but a hands-on digital technology leader. Living in the peaks I also balance work with a life outdoors, hiking, mountain biking and skiing.
