Tai Hsia is the Managing Director of XY Ventures where he advises and invests in data-driven technology companies in the sports, health, and media sectors.Prior to XY Ventures, Tai was COO and GC of MOCAP Analytics, a sports analytics software company with expertise in making sense of tracking data, creating data visualizations, and generating stories using player tracking and other (e.g., play-by-play, box score, event) data, where he is responsible for strategy, business operations (BizOps), business development (partnerships, growth, and revenues), and legal.Prior to joining MOCAP, Tai was a corporate partner in the San Francisco office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP where he focused on complex transactions and advised clients with respect to all of their transactional and corporate needs, including their acquisitions, equity investments, joint ventures, debt financings, fund formations, corporate governance, and corporate and securities matters. Tai was previously an associate with Kirkland's London office and subsequently involved in establishing Kirkland's Hong Kong office where he was a corporate partner.Prior to rejoining K&E in SF, Tai was Co-Founder, CEO & GC of mConnected, a software company focused on cross-platform mobile messaging, chat, VoIP, and forums, where he was responsible for business development, sourcing and executing commercial deals and partnerships, and managing a team of a dozen software developers.Prior to attending law school, Tai was an analyst at Glassman-Oliver Economic Consultants where he worked on risk arbitrage assessments for hedge funds, antitrust economic analysis in support of M&A deals and civil and criminal litigation, and valuation and financial modeling for mergers and acquisitions.
