While I was at The University of Kansas, I was afforded the opportunity to intern for Congressman Earl Pomeroy of North Dakota in Washington D.C. for five months from January 2008 through May 2008. While in Washington D.C. I had many responsibilities including responding to constituent case work, processing correspondence, assisting in the creation of legislative bills, event planning, and providing Capitol tours to large and small groups. After working in Representative Pomeroy’s office I found employment at Landmark National Bank in Lawrence, KS as a teller while completing my undergraduate studies. By February 2009, as the senior teller on staff, the majority of the daily responsibilities were under my supervision, including customer satisfaction resolution issues and marketing the savings and checking accounts for individuals. I moved to Chicago in April of 2011. Within a week I secured my current position at Chicagoland Beverage Co., a growing gourmet beverage distributor with a local and national presence, evaluating new customer accounts and analyzing their financial background to determine creditworthiness. Through a friend, I became the sole banker at Citibank Armitage and Halsted. While there, I was able to lead the area in sales and maintain steady growth of the branch pipeline by building customer trust as well as exploring outside sales opportunities. My time at Ford Motor Company has been fruitful in that it offers me the opportunity to tackle complex business challenges on a daily basis. With a business as large as Ford, most problems are both multi-facted, contain a multitude of moving parts with no lack of complexity. Earning my MBA was an experience while working long nights at Ford provided valuable, real world experience that have paid off in my professional career.
