Industrial Placement Student
Flinders is a leading international university in Australia with a record of excellence and innovation in teaching
I've recently started a new role in Melbourne, Australia. Previously, I was employed as a Research Fellow, in the School of Pharmacy at the University of Nottingham. Working with an industrial partner, I worked on a project which involved the identification of high binding polymers for viruses and other biologics. Previously I worked as a researcher and industrial liaison for the NanoConnect program delivered by the Flinders Centre for NanoScale Science and Technology at the Flinders University of South Australia. NanoConnect aims to provide a simple, low-risk mechanism for companies to utilise University research resources such as advanced analytical equipment and technical “know-how” that they would not otherwise have access to. In addition to working on NanoConnect, I have also continued my PhD research on the synthesis, characterisation and evaluation of a new suite of supramolecular fluorescent molecules for the detection of anions. Undertaken at Flinders University in collaboration with Deakin University, the sensors based on the 4-amino-1,8-naphthalimide fluorophore were also immobilised onto a silica surface. Of particular interest currently is the novel binding behaviour displayed by the sensors. I am interested in expanding my skills, exploring exciting new research opportunities, and always look forward to meeting new challenges. Please feel free to contact me for further information.
