For the last 14 years I have been in the role of Technical Director providing solutions in the mobile data space including high volume mobile messaging platforms, mobile internet site build and delivery platforms, smartphone applications and mobile loyalty and marketing platforms. With offices in six countries (UK, America, Latin America, Australia and India) and over one hundred technical staff it was essential to integrate and manage technical development and support teams across all offices to deliver the business needs, taking advantage of outsourcing providers to cope with excess demand. The business had data centres in four countries all managed from the UK. I entered the mobile technology in the mid-nineties spending 3 years providing solutions as a senior IT consultant to mobile telecom service providers and local government housing departments including Housing Associations. This was followed by 12 months as a software development manager leading to the position as Technical Director providing mobile network data solutions. I gained 10 years’ engineering experience in the Aerospace industry as an electronics engineer specialising in instrumentation. Followed by 6 years supporting and providing consultancy on business computer systems in operational and management roles, followed by 2 years as general manager of a computer services business.
