Product Development Engineer II
Cardiovascular Systems develops and markets medical devices for the treatment of cardiovascular disease.
I am currently a Product Development Engineer for Cardiovascular Systems Inc. in the Twin Cities working on new product development and characterization for our line of Orbital Atherectomy Devices. I recently received my Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Marquette University. My research focus was in rehabilitation robotics, designing and developing an assistive wrist orthosis to be used to improve motor skills in children with Cerebral Palsy. I was responsible for designing all mechanical parts using Solidworks, and designing and implementing signal conditioning circuitry, power, and safety systems. The system is controlled by a control model designed and implemented by myself in Matlab Simulink using trajectory-based position control to command corrective movements as deviations from the desired path are detected. The hands-off nature of the academic setting has made me very good at managing my own time and staying on task by planning ahead and tracking my progress. I have a passion for problem-solving and improving the quality of life for individuals dealing with debilitating conditions. My specific interests include biomechanics, biomaterials, mechanical design, computational modeling, and application testing.
