Finance done well comprises not only the backward-looking reporting and accounting, it also includes the co-piloting of a business, ensuring its leaders are able to see around corners, using trends and important leading metrics to achieve their goals. Early in my career in public accounting I discovered a passion for marrying business objectives with accounting concepts to drive results. I excelled at this while at KPMG and continued to pursue adding significant skill sets to my body of work, now spanning all aspects of finance roles as well as operational pursuits. Now I combine being classically trained in Big 4 and Fortune 100 roles with small cap and private equity experience to steer operations toward investment/development opportunities, enabling investors to measure progress and make investment decisions. I'm thoughtful, curious, accountable, and analytical but most importantly I'm forward-thinking and this is key in finance. What we do matters and I excel in transforming the finance function by developing strong teams, processes, and systems. A few accomplishments I'm proud of include: • Raised $31M of capital for biotech startup, all in the public equity capital markets, at Calyxt, Inc. • Grew revenue 11% and profit 15% by working collaboratively across the business segments and regions comprising the Brain Therapies global business to allocate resources to the highest growth areas of product and geography at Medtronic. • Increased revenues 23% to $35M and grew EBITDA 21% by shifting to a SAAS-based pricing model and developing a services business, leading to a 50% increase in company valuation at Young America Holdings, LLC. • Doubled operating profit to $280M by expanding operating margins to 16% while holding capital spending and working capital flat as CFO of Convenience and Foodservice at General Mills, Inc. • Shortened the periodic financial close by more than 50% across all periods, and by greater amounts for certain elements of the monthly and SEC reporting processes, at General Mills, Inc. • Acknowledged in the Twin Cities Business Journal as a Notable Person in Finance for 2021 and as a CFO of the Year recipient for small businesses in 2016.
