Dr. Kim Steiner is a field botanist/ecologist with over 30 years of experience in research, education and management. Currently specializing in resource management with an emphasis on managing and conducting special status plant and wildlife surveys, vegetation surveys, invasive weeds surveys, jurisdictional wetland delineation, valley elderberry longhorn beetle (VELB) surveys, and preparing habitat mitigation and restoration plans for energy related projects throughout California. He is an experienced technical report writer for environmental compliance documents (e.g. NEPA and CEQA ) and is proficient in the field use of Global Positioning Systems (GPS) instrumentation for mapping of special status plants, habitats and vegetation communities. He is also an expert on the pollination and systematics of southern African representatives of the figwort family including Diascia, Nemesia, Hemimeris and Colpias and on the pollination biology of oil-secreting flowers and oil-collecting bees. He has published over 50 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and described or co-described 25 species of plants and 16 species of bees.
