‘Sara gets things done twice as fast and four times better than anyone else.’ That's a direct quote from my first boss. Probably more indicative than literal. Still, as an impressionable graduate, I took them on board and I’ve worked hard to live up to them ever since. As a leader, I’m a big believer in building partnerships, relationships and understanding between colleagues and suppliers. As a strategic, customer-centric marketer I believe in being able to articulate your ideas, clearly and effectively. It's a critical component to success in our industry, and keeping the lines of communication open in both directions is paramount. I counterbalance being pragmatic, results-driven and accountable by constantly challenging myself to grow and always looking for the blue sky opportunity. Ten years ago I made the conscious decision to learn something new (sometimes two) every year. Since that resolution, I have completed courses in SEO, Content Strategy and Marketing, Marketing Technology Certificate, Copywriting, Adobe Creative Suite, Web Design, NLP and a Cert IV in Training and Assessment. While I’m far from being an expert in any of these endeavours, knowing the basics has certainly helped me in my day to day dealings with suppliers and stakeholders. Above all, I’d like to think I bring a bit of calm, common sense and pragmatism with a healthy dose of creativity to work each day. I’m a customer-focused, flexible thinker with a commercial mindset which means I am always considering the broader business outcomes in any work I undertake, and able to find creative ways to get there while ensuring customers have a great experincee along the way. I’ve worked under great mentors, created businesses on my own and worked in teams of all shapes and sizes. Nothing scares me. Challenges excite me. And I’m looking forward to where my skills, experience and love for the job are needed most in the years to come.
