After exiting the commercial and residential construction industry in the 1990's, I began my 20 year IT career performing system readiness activities. In 2003, I enrolled in the MBA program at Boise State University and began upgrading my skills to include skills budgeting, planning, leadership, and strategic decision making. After two years as a Systems Engineer, I began managing the team of Systems Engineers and quickly proposed and led the initiative to consolidate our server operating systems to Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux. A significant part of the consolidation was proposing and leading the implementation of Google Apps as an early adopter in 2008.Furthering my move into management positions with a technology emphasis, I initiated the first Project Management Office at Boise State. As Director of the Project Management Office, I became familiar with University leadership and business processes. The combination of technology and relationships provided me the opportunity to become the Office of Information Technology's first Deputy Chief Information Officer - a position that I currently hold.
