• 10 years experience of in-vivo work, performing a wide range of procedures with various species of animal, including but not limited to swine, canines, rodents, and non-human primates; including the following procedures: ID tagging, notching, and tattooing; blood collection techniques (tail, mandible, orbital, vena cava, cardiac); restraint; dosing techniques and calculations(IV, IM, PO, ID, IP, lung aspiration); surgical prep and recovery; anesthesia; health observation and medical record maintenance; setup and maintenance of rodent breeding colonies; setup, maintenance, and data collection for specific disease animal models (EAE, Asthma, IBD, oncology, Cryptococcus neoformans, Toxoplasma gondii, Toxicology, Pharmacokentics, etc.) • Able to maintain breeding colonies for mice, rats, and guinea pigs. • Able to maintain, operate, and troubleshoot anesthesia machines, ventilators, radiograph machines, ECG/EKG and telemetry equipment, Hematrue, VetScan, ICU caging systems • Able to perform cell count, trypan blue slide staining (BSL1), blood smears, bone marrow smears, proper tissue collection for a vast variety of organs to allow for fixation and sectioning in IHC. • Performed lab management responsibilities such as maintaining work areas, stocking supplies, and equipment repair and lab meeting schedules, ordering and tracking supplies, scheduling lab equipment re-certification, maintaining OSHA safety requirements, scheduling of equipment to prevent timed experiment conflicts, etc.
