Sarah Joyce is a seasoned communications professional with 20 years of experience developing strategic, global, multi-platform PR initiatives for some of the biggest music brands, labels and artists in the world. Her notorious creativity and refusal to color inside the traditional proverbial lines continues to result in widespread positive press coverage across music, entertainment, business and tech media worldwide. Sarah is currently the global head of corporate communications for Beats by Dr. Dre (Beats), one of the world’s most popular audio brands of premium headphones and speakers, which is now part of Apple. As the company’s first in-house PR hire, Sarah hand-picked the group of stellar communications professionals that now make up Beats’ internal PR function. Under her guidance, Beats has successfully gone from marketing trick to media darling and is sought after by consumers not only as a must-have lifestyle music brand, but as a legitimate, respected and innovative consumer tech company. While in this role, Sarah also led all communications surrounding the successful, high-profile launch of streaming music app Beats Music, which was later part of Apple’s acquisition of Beats. She is the principal communications advisor to company co-founders Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre and reports directly to Beats president Luke Wood. In addition to her role at Beats, Sarah is also a lead member of the global PR team for the recently launched Apple Music, the company’s new global music streaming service. Sarah spent the majority of her career at the intersection of music and technology. Prior to Beats and Apple, Sarah was the senior director of communications for MySpace Music, the world’s foremost place for music online at the time. She spent the earlier part of her career working at various labels helping to shape the profile for a diverse roster of talent including Duran Duran, Tori Amos, Rod Stewart, The Fray, Busta Rhymes and Alicia Keys.
