Currently engaged in the tender development for Defence Soft FM, it may not seem glamorous from the outside but finally working with Big Data, the scope and possibilities are shining a light on new areas and opening up better value, very enjoyable and a fantastic grouping of selfless dedicated individuals around me. Many moons ago a formative background in the retail fit out sector and program management of capital and maintenance works for a retail client. Areas of working knowledge include due diligence monitoring for funders on care home projects, cost planning of pub refurbishment and new developments including accommodation for a national chain. Management and co-ordination of capital allowance submissions for projects to the national head office including establishing future reporting protocols. Recent experience has been in teaching on distance learning programmes (QS Tutor with the University College of Estate Management), including advanced Quantity Surveying Practice in subject areas of risk management, value management and benchmarking for final year undergraduate students. Enthusiastic advocate for the integration of software applications to aid the understanding of buildings and deliver improved cost management services provided by Quantity Surveyors, including amongst others greater utilisation of BIM.
