Helping create and realise value through innovation, outside the confines of the most excellent Yorkshire Water. Technology or service offerings are just one element of delivering innovation; technology dependencies, culture, skills and many other variables all need understanding as part of development and ultimately deployment phases. This is critical understanding for emerging technology suppliers to get to grips with. Note - challenge is the strongest form of support. It is certainly difficult to both provide and receive but is essential to delivering deployable innovation. Jon has delivered disruptive options informing business strategy, growth and sustainability. Original career in agriculture led to a role in Yorkshire Water in 1992. Experience gained through science, operational, R&D, commercial, procurement, fleet and leadership roles, led to a programme of transformational innovation projects whilst accommodating incremental development - deliver the faster horse AND the Model T. The outcome - demonstrable change within YW, offering deployable options to mitigate risks and realise opportunities. Examples of key Team projects I have created, led and/or challenged and supported: - Advanced Thermal Conversion Gasification - commercial and technical demonstration plant delivered, mitigating sludge to land risks, sequestering carbon and significant TOTEX efficiency. - created the transformational concept and commercial demonstration of an Integrated Resource system. Circular Economy model articulated and now investable and in the process of being delivered at Esholt, Bradford. - Establishment of a world leading anaerobic digestion research facility at the University of York already delivering operational savings in YW, with business plan to expand and move the bar of basic AD functionality higher than could ever be anticipated. - Biggest and most ambitious demonstration of a SMART distribution system and metering in Europe delivered and now informing investment with expansion planned to transform operational and strategic performance, enhancing CX. - Learning from the above, a plan is funded and in progress to apply SMART to the whole wastewater network informing transformation of performance In internal sewer flooding, intermittent sewer discharges and pollution. A rolling programme of c40 projects and programmes of work, planned out for 5 years, delivered by a selected and talented Innovation Team.
